Happy Holidays!

I preceded my artistic vocation with a rewarding career as a physicist. My artistic compulsion to draw and paint, led me to leave scientific life and to study at NSCAD University. I completed a BFA with a major in painting in 2011. My scientific background complements my artistic aspirations by looking for underlying structures and patterns in the natural world, the urban setting and the human form.

  1. Hi Mr. Kuwahara! You don’t know me but apparently our sons have become friends. My son is Michael Ala, presently doing a Masters in AI. Michael showed me some of your art and I thought it was wonderful. After studying philosophy I published three collections of poetry, though not to much acclaim. Regardless, I continue to write and share my poems on WordPress. Michael suggested I reach out to you. He is very happy to have met your son and finds in him a like-minded spirit. I hope their friendship continues. It is interesting to me that your scientific background complements your art. One of my favourite modern thinkers is Gaston Bachelard. He studied physics and chemistry before focusing his attention on how images work in poetry. His book “The Poetics of Space” and “The Poetics of Reverie” are touchstones in my own creative life. Happy Holiday! Salvatore.
